Introduction to Coding 1

Summer Virtual Workshops

This course will be an introduction to code for children who are interested in the world of computer science. Over a course of four weeks, we will work through the fundamentals of programming through weekly activities and challenges kids can work on at home! In this workshops, we urge students to use their creativity and critical thinking skills.

Web Design 1

Introduction to Python 1

6-8th grade

Python is one of the most common programming languages out there. This summer, you can learn how to program in this language and execute code to become the next big computer programmer! In this workshop, students will delve specifically into the basic Python commands, coding problems, as well as how coding can be applied to the real world. Students will tackle some projects as a class, in groups or individually to ensure that they understand concepts and to encourage collaboration and networking. Sign up today!

Game Development 1

Saturdays (July 18, July 25, Aug 1, Aug 8)

3-5th grade

This course will be an introduction to game development for children in grades 3-5 who want to explore what goes into making an online game. Over a course of four weeks, we will be learning introductory coding to make fun games during class and at home! By the end of the course, children will have a better understanding of how to develop engaging games, such as Minecraft-themed, and be able to better explore that interest on online platforms such as code.org. We are excited to expand our horizons together!

Graphic Design

Sundays (July 5, July 12, July 19, July 26)

6-8th grade

This course is an introduction for children in grades 6-8 who are interested in exploring graphic design. Over the course of four weeks, students will be able to increase their proficiency in utilizing graphic design software and learn about the various technical components of professional graphic design. We aim to highlight creativity and individualism through four personal projects in which students will work to create promotional materials for an influencer of their choice.

Introduction to Coding 2

This introduction to coding course is for 3rd to 5th graders interested in taking their first step in the realm of computer science. Over a course of four weeks, we will discover how computer science implements itself in today's world and start learning the basics of the programming language. The game-based curriculum will include a set of fun and engaging challenges through code.org. Come discover new passions with us!

Web Design 2

Learn three coding languages over four sessions in order to build your own website! In this course, we will go over basic functions of three popular web design languages: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. At the end of the four sessions, students will have basic web design skills and have the tools necessary to create a website from scratch.

If you are a student looking for a fun, easy, and exciting way to get into computer science, the Intro to Coding workshop is for you! This program is geared toward students who have no prior programming experience. Students will learn everything from what coding is, real-world applications, and why coding is important. Ever wondered how you make a website? Learn the basics of web design with us, covering HTML, CSS and JavaScript! No previous knowledge of these languages or coding in general is required. All that is required is a web browser, a solid Internet connection and an account to repl.it, which is free and takes five seconds to create (this is an online development environment so no software is required).
